contents In this work, we calculate the average equation of state for the oscillating inflaton field of the simplest $α$-attractor E-model. We show that the average equation of state can be solved analytically. We discover that when $α$ is small, the average equation of state of the oscillating inflaton field approaches that of a cosmological constant. This is the phenomenon of oscillating inflation.
