This chapter exposes the systemic devaluation of these activities in the digital economy, by drawing on historical theories about unrecognized labor, from housework to audience labor. This approach advocates for a broader understanding of digital labor by introducing the concept of ''inconspicuous production.'' It moves beyond the traditional notion of ''invisible work'' to highlight the hidden elements inherent in all job types, especially in light of growing automation and platform-based employment. |
