contents A recently introduced recurrence-relation ansatz applied to the Bose-Hubbard model is here used in the Fermi-Hubbard model. The resulting modified Fermi-Hubbard model is soluble and exhibits a continuous phase transition (second order) reminiscent of the integer quantum Hall resistance and a ground-state, first-order phase transition.
