contents The broad sense genetic heritability, which quantifies the total proportion of phenotypic variation in a population due to genetic factors, is crucial for understanding trait inheritance. While many existing methods focus on estimating narrow sense heritability, which accounts only for additive genetic variation, this paper introduces a kernel ridge regression approach to estimate broad-sense heritability. We provide both upper and lower bounds for the estimator. The effectiveness of the proposed method was evaluated through extensive simulations of both synthetic data and real data from the 1000 Genomes Project. Additionally, the estimator was applied to data from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative to demonstrate its practical utility.
