contents How are high-momentum transfer processes modified when embedded in the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) instead of the vacuum? How can fundamental properties of the QGP be inferred from their medium-modifications? And what can be learnt about QCD? These questions have motivated theoretical and experimental studies for more than four decades almost since the beginning of QGP research. Here we review with a historical perspective the main theoretical developments and the resulting interplay of theory and experiment at RHIC and at the LHC.
