| contents | Neutrino masses provide one of the clearest indications of physics beyond the Standard Model. In this brief review, I discuss the main theoretical frameworks developed to account for them, with particular emphasis on scenarios in which neutrinos are Majorana particles. After a short overview of the current landscape of neutrino mass models, I focus on constructions featuring the spontaneous breaking of global lepton number and examine the phenomenological implications of a massless Goldstone boson, the majoron. |
