The teachers' library is most effective when conducted by trained school librarians. It is organized at two levels--the school building and the school district--and its purpose is to stimulate innovation in curriculum and teaching. Aspects of organization and administration of teachers' libraries are discussed, including size of collection, financing, facilities, staffing, and selection and organization of materials. The main portion of the book is a classified and annotated list of books, pamphlets, films, and filmstrips, and a list of journals recommended for inclusion in a teachers' library. The materials listed were selected by 44 organizations which recommended materials in their own fields. Full buying information is provided for each item and no materials known to be out of print are included. A list of publishers and an author and title index are provided. (Author/CC) |
