Physical Education Teacher Education Teacher Education Curriculum This survey report of teacher training practices in physical education around the world presents the results of both a 1963 study and a 1968 revision. Material obtained in 1963 (from 51 countries, 25 of them submitting information for the first time) is in italic print. An introductory section summarizes the total report. Part 1 contains information supplied by questionnaire respondents in each of 80 countries on six major points: (1) physical education training institutions; (2) certificate or degree and years of study required; (3) facilities and research and library resources; (4) physical education teacher training curriculum; (5) professional training; and (6) changes, development, and progress in the physical education teacher training program. Part 2 is composed of charts compiled from the information contained in the 80 sections of part 1: (1) availability of resources for training programs; (2) physical activities in the teacher training curriculum; (3) professional courses in the programs; (4) length of time required to become a physical education teacher as compared to that for teachers of other subjects; (5) recent change, developments, and trends. A list of respondents (addresses of individuals) and a copy of the questionnaire are appended. (JS)
