Budgeting Colleges Educational Finance Expenditures Financial Support Higher Education State Aid Universities This manual provides a financial history of Utah's institutions of higher education from 1959-69. Total expenditures and revenues for educational and general purposes are included. Comparative information is given for each institution on: instruction, administrative and general operations, library and museum, physical plant operation and maintenance, extension, and the various line items related to the operation of higher education. The major part of the money recommended in the budget proposal is considered necessary just to meet enrollment and cost-of-living increases. Most of the budget is committed to the teaching of undergraduates. Small state appropriations are suggested to expand public services in extension and encourage greater levels of research activity. A comparison is included of the Coordinating Council's recommendations with action taken by the Utah State Legislature in the 1969 session. The bulk of the manual consists of figures and tables. (JS)
