Carroll, Frances Laverne Curriculum Development Feasibility Studies Graduate Study International Programs Library Education Library Science The purpose to be accomplished by study abroad is the education of society through the improvement of the educational opportunities for librarians who directly influence libraries in the social order. A year's study abroad would be a means of (1) introducing the treatment of other cultures which is needed for increased understanding of human nature, and (2) eliminating cultural bias in librarianship. In Part I the purposes of study abroad in library science are listed and discussed. Part II covers utilization of study abroad in education for librarianship. Part III lists and discusses criteria for selection of major cooperating schools in Germany and the British Isles. (Author/CC)
