contents Continuation of Arizona Occupational Research Coordinating Unit. Final Report. Lee, Arthur M. Demonstration Programs Information Dissemination Program Descriptions Program Development Research Coordinating Units State Programs Vocational Education The Arizona Research Coordinating Unit (RCU) was established as an experimental program to fill the need for vocational research development, coordination, and dissemination. The RCU now provides: (1) research development including the identification of research needs, (2) research coordination and dissemination, (3) educational data collection, storage and retrieval, and (4) exemplary program development. The staff and the services are available to the State Department of Education, educational institutions, and vocational educators and researchers throughout the state. This report discusses the organization and current operation of the RCU and provides recommendations for continued improvement. Some recommendations are: (1) The RCU should remain a service organization, (2) Junior colleges, high schools, elementary schools, business and industry, the state department of vocational education, and the state employment service should be directly involved in the vocational research of the universities and in projects of their own, and (3) The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) should be adapted to direct-access search and retrieval, and the RCU should have its entire library in ERIC instead of maintaining a separate facility. Supporting data and RCU activities are appended. (DM)
