- Establishment of an Occupational Research and Development Coordinating Unit for the State of Rhode Island. Final Report, June, 1966 to August, 1969. Information Dissemination Research Coordinating Units Research Projects Vocational Education Completed studies of the Research Coordinating Unit established at Rhode Island College include: "An Evaluation of Rhode Island's Teaching-Training Programs in Vocational Education" and "A Survey of Special Needs Students in Rhode Island" (presented in the appendix). In progress is "Vocational-Technical Institute Development Program for Commercial Fisheries." A newsletter has been distributed to 600 educators periodically. The Unit has induced the Rhode Island College library to purchase "Office of Education" and "Research in Education" microfiche while the Unit has purchased the "Abstracts of Research and Related Materials in Vocational and Technical Education" and "Abstracts of Instructional Materials in Vocational and Technical Education" microfiche collections. The Unit director participated in the New England Regional Research Coordinating Unit conference and in the development of a regional research proposal, and wrote the research section of the State Plan. In addition to an account of activities and accomplishments, the document presents an historical perspective, a statement of objectives, and a sample newsletter. (JK)
