This booklet examines specific examples of all three types of microform usage. The basic components of a microform system-input devices, storage devices, retrieval methods, and output devices--are described and illustrated. Ten specific educational microform systems are described to serve as models for possible applications. Criteria are developed for the selection of software and hardware. A period of explosive growth for the microform industry in the seventies is predicted. Some guides to further study are provided. The names and addresses of microform manufacturers, the names of microform associations and foundations, and a bibliography are appended. (JY)
