  • Education for School Librarianship in Canada; Proceedings of a Workshop (Jasper Park Lodge, Alberta on Saturday, 8 June 1968). Librarians Library Education Library Science Library Services Library Technicians School Libraries Workshops School libraries have become a big business in Canada with very large budgets, specially designed quarters and facilities, and staff requiring a great range of skills and knowledge. The papers presented at this workshop examine the educational preparation needed by such personnel to administer a modern school library program. Background papers were prepared describing the programs for educating school librarians in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic provinces. The papers presented at this workshop have been compiled as a convenient record of the status of school library education in Canada, and as an indicator of current trends in its development. The themes of the three panel discussions are: (1) School Libraries, Library Technicians, and Library Clerks: Training and Staff Relationships; (2) School Librarianship and the Newer Media: Integration or Segregation and (3) Teacher and Library Education of School Librarianship: Professional Dualism or Schizophrenia.
