- Derivation of a Simulation Model of a University Library System. Beckman, Margaret Administration College Libraries Decision Making Libraries Models Simulation Models are one of the tools of operation research which may have applications in the library field. This study is an attempt to establish a simple model for administrative purposes in a university library system. Two measures of a university library system were studied: (1) the cost of adding a volume to the collection and (2) the use of the collection on a per capita basis. The present study requires further analysis prior to computer manipulation and before full-scale models can be developed for solutions to decision-making problems, the development of considerable new data is required.
