Environmental factors discussed include those related to the convenience and comfort of the readers and the custodianship of the material. The recommendations focus on daily routine problems faced by librarians and readers when using microforms, and are addressed toward the basic and fundamental considerations to which the librarian must address himself if readers are to feel comfortable in the use of microforms and accept them as viable information carriers. Technical details are relegated to appendixes for the technically oriented readers, and a glossary of terms is provided. (AB)
