Three of the most significant characteristics of future school furniture will be multiple use, flexibility, and mobility. An interior componentized system will provide spaces for work and study, divide spaces, create atmospheres, and store items. Some anticipated furnishings are: acoustical noise-absorbing furniture, electric carpets to send electrical power supplies and/or audio visual signals throughout a building, screens capable of carrying internal electrical power, and movable library stack units.
