- The 8MM. Documents Project. Catalogs Filmstrips Information Sources Modern History Resource Materials Single Concept Films United States History Small segments of original film footage relating to discrete historical subjects that range from battle scenes of the Spanish-American War to the first steps of man on the moon have been gathered from archival sources and packaged into a Super-8 cartridged film format. The films run less than five minutes and are silent. They are not aimed at any age level but are intended to be used as tools for historical investigations, to stimulate discussion, and to help analyze and compare historical events, trends, and developments. On the outside of each film cartridge, a label provides a description of the contents of the film, information about the event, and a bibliography. These notes contain only objective data about the film subject. The cartridges may be used with either Technicolor or Kodak instant loading projectors. Library of Congress cards are available for each title. A total of 128 titles are listed chronologically, and a descriptive note is provided for each new title. Complete ordering information for the films is given. (JY)
