contents Promoting Librarianship: A Forward Look. Career Guidance Career Opportunities College Students Conferences Educational Programs High School Students Librarians Library Education Library Schools Library Science Recruitment School Libraries Workshops Recruitment of potential college students to the field of librarianship and promotion of the library education department of Kutztown State College were the dual goals of a two-part project undertaken by the faculty and students of that department. The first approach consisted of slide-talk presentations made by Kutztown library students to local high school groups. Emphasis was placed on school librarianship as a career and Kutztown's educational program in this field. The second part of the project attempted to acquaint eleventh and twelfth grade students in Pennsylvania with career opportunities in all phases of librarianship throughout the state. The method used was a three day conference involving career films, panel discussions by prominent librarians, visits to area libraries and workshops. (JN)
