The report contains statistics for 1,841 college and university libraries and seven joint libraries in order to provide data of use to administrators, librarians, and others, particularly in budget-making operations. Since this is a partial listing of all academic libraries, with inclusion based on both the timely submittal of a report and its completeness, it cannot be assumed as representative for obtaining aggregates of any type. The tables included are: (1) "Number of Units in Library Collections and Interlibrary Transactions in College and University Libraries, by State and Institution: 1967-68;" (2) "Actual Operating Expenditures of College and University Libraries, by State and Institution: 1967-68;" (3) "Budgeted Operating Expenditures of College and University Libraries, by State and Institution: 1968-69;" (4) "Library Staff and Hours of Assistance in College and University Libraries, by State and Institution: Fall Term 1968;" and (5) "Number and Average Salary of Full-Time Staff in College and University Libraries, by Type of Position, Term of Employment, State, and Institution: Fall Term 1968."
