November, Director of Library Services and Information Division of the New York Times, gives the background information of the New York Times Information Retrieval System, why it was started and what are the future plans. The purpose of the hearing is to better qualify the subcommittee members to evaluate pending legislation for the establishment of a National Science Research Data Processing and Information Retrieval System.
