Bibliographies Disadvantaged Inner City Literacy Reading Difficulty Remedial Reading Underachievement This citation bibliography aims to present enough of the literature to give the user a general view of the work on underachievement in reading. The emphasis is generally on the socially handicapped, and much of the material deals with inner-city problems. The bibliography is divided into three parts: general books on the education of the socially disadvantaged, remedial teaching in reading, and periodical articles. All materials included are available from the Indiana University Library, and Library of Congress call numbers are given to facilitate searching. The 200 entries include books, conference proceedings, handbooks, workbooks, speech excerpts, teacher's guides, theses, and journal articles. (AW)
