A historical background of the use of audiovisual materials in medical and health professional education is given. The benefits and problems of resource sharing with other institutional producers of audiovisual materials are identified, and the primary users and uses of audiovisual material in health science education, the facilities, equipment, and capabilities required for extended use of these materials are described. The potential role of the Biomedical Communications Network is discussed and a description of a typical learning resource center in a medical school is provided. (JY) |
