This booklet describes six sample seminars to demonstrate the usefulness of the technique and to illustrate the part a library media center plays in preparing materials and media for them. The topics were chosen to show how a world affairs seminar may be used to expand viewpoints, correct misconceptions, supply information, foster further study, crystalize general impressions, and inspire creative thinking. In addition to suggesting specific material to have on hand, the booklet also provides hints on motivating students, managing seminars, choosing a student leader, and tells when to intervene in a discussion. It lists a series of bench marks to look for as a sign of an effective seminar and gives a short bibliography and list of sources of information about various foreign countries. (JY) |
