contents Improving Library Services for Handicapped Children: Proceedings of the Institute (Buffalo, New York, February 1-4, 1971). Conference Reports Exceptional Child Services Handicapped Children Library Services Reading Materials In addition to the planning committee list, the program schedule, and summary of the results of the Institute evaluation questionnaire, the proceedings of the study institute on improving library services in New York State for handicapped children presents manuscripts of seven presentations prepared from the taped sessions. Included are a collection of random comments by special educators concerning handicapped children, elicited by Don Roberts, and a discussion by Maxine Mays of the characteristics of exceptional children related to their use of libraries. Library materials for handicapped children are described by Clara Lucioli. Other presentations are a panel discussion of programing school libraries to meet the needs of the handicapped; a plea for cooperation in the provision of library services, by Robert E. Barron; descriptions of some books for handicapped children and how to use them with children, by Hertha Ganey; and a summary of library programs and services for handicapped children found in other states or nationwide, by Margaret Hannigan.
