At the present stage of the "information explosion" no librarian can afford to ignore the contribution of modern computing equipment and advanced language processing methods to the problems involved in achieving higher levels of efficiency. This study is concerned with automatic text handling methods as required for an integrated system for mechanized information services in libraries.
