Activism Directories Human Living Indexes Organizations (Groups) Political Issues Publications Resource Materials Social Action Social Attitudes Social Change Social Environment Social Problems Social Values Sociology Subcultures Approximately 3,000 recent movement publications, made up of books, pamphlets, films, tapes and records but excluding serials, are listed in this index. The American Library Association Social Responsibilities Round Table Task Force on Alternative Books in Print compiled it primarily for librarians as a selection tool, and to make available to the public ideas on changing life styles neglected by traditional library guides. The guide is divided into four major parts, each in alphabetical order: 1) a list of subject headings identifying the subject scope covered in the index; 2) a subject index supplying cross references that act as a "see also" reference and define the context in which a subject is used; publishers are listed under this subject heading directing the user to the organizational name; 3) a listing of more than 250 publishers, chosen from the "Guide to the American Left " mailing list and from other miscellaneous alternative reviews and notices; 4) a list of the movement groups and their publication titles and price, many which are less than $1.00.
