Committees Educational Development Educational Programs Engineers Environmental Education Environmental Technicians Health International Programs Research Reports This report contains the collective views of an international group of experts presented at a meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) Expert Committee on the Education of Engineers in Environmental Health held in Geneva, 1967. Attention of the Committee focused on environmental health in terms of the relationship between man and the physical, chemical, and biological factors of his environment. Environmental health engineering was defined as the application of engineering principles to the control, modification, or adaptation of the physical, chemical, and biological factors of the environment in the interest of man's health, comfort, and social well-being. In this context, views of committee members are recorded under the following topics: (1) The Changing Scope of Environmental Health, (2) Education and Training, (3) Impact of Research on Education, (4) Establishment of Educational Programs (general, academic staff, equipment and library requirements, cost of programs, regional programs, and recruitment), (5) Opportunities in Environmental Health Engineering, and (6) Recommendations for Development of Educational Programs.
