The volume is divided into three main sections. In the first section four essays survey existing Asian, East, South, and Southeast Asian resources in American libraries and discuss various problems on resource control and development. The major portion of the publication is devoted to a bibliography containing over 650 citations of items published between 1854 and 1967 categorized first by broad geographic areas--Asia General, East Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia--and sub-categorized by countries within the broad areas. Author entries are alphabetically arranged. Cross referencing is provided through an author index. The third section provides a directory of Asian library resources and area studies programs in the United States. (Author/SJM) |
