Adult Education Comparative Analysis Comparative Education Directories Questionnaires School Surveys Surveys This survey was conducted in response to increased interest and activity in comparative study of adult education during last ten years. By means of mailed questionnaire, survey was carried out in two stages in March and April of 1972. In the first stage, 154 institutions and 44 individuals were contacted. In second stage, questionnaires were mailed to nine additional institutions and 33 individuals. Response to survey included 45 institutions and 75 individuals. In analysing responses and compiling directory, only those institutions/organizations reporting activities and/or research in comparative adult education or those reporting a library or documentation center were included. Only respondents to survey were included. Those who failed to respond, or could not be reached were not included. Survey clearly documented that, on world-wide scale, comparative study of adult education still is in very rudimentary stage of development and that most activities and study are carried out at descriptive level. It also showed that comparative studies increased in the late 1960's, and are being undertaken by individuals and institutions in many places. (Author/NF) |
