Presented are the results of a survey of the services and resources available to the physically handicapped in public libraries across Canada. Discussed are recommendations for libraries from national organizations for the handicapped based in Toronto which deal with such handicaps as blindness, cerebral palsy, deafness, multiple sclerosis, paraplegia, and Parkinson's disease. Organizations and institutions serving the physically handicapped in British Columbia are examined to determine the extent of existing library services and possible improvements. The Toronto public library's service to shut-ins is explained. The librarian of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind discusses the talking book and how libraries can serve the physically handicapped who cannot use books. (GW)
