Part II delineates the kind of organization and schedules essential in promoting effective reading guidance programs in the schools, lists criteria for the selection and evaluation of learning materials, and describes a variety of directive and nondirective approaches to reading guidance. Part III describes programs, procedures, activities, and devices for teaching young people to read critically, to acquire and use information and knowledge, and to build values, appreciations, and the attendant skills that promote lifelong reading.
