- Narrative Evaluation Report on the Institute for: Creation, Selection and Utilization of Library Materials for Minority Groups (July 3-28, 1972). Cohen, David Institutes (Training Programs) Librarians Library Materials Library Services Minority Group Children Minority Groups Program Evaluation The Institute held at Queens College was designed to contribute to the improvement of library services to children and young adults with minority group orientation and/or socially disadvantaged status. The focus was upon providing better materials for Black, Indian, Mexican, Oriental and Puerto Rican Americans by improving the ability of librarians, publishers, writers, editors and teachers to meet more effectively the recognized important information needs of these minority groups. This Institute represented the first time that the subject of the treatment of more than one of the minority groups in library media was to be examined systematically and in depth by a group of experienced librarians from all over the country. Various technical and administrative aspects of the Institute are evaluated in this narrative report. Contained in the appendices are: rosters of participants, consultants and the advisory committee; feedback data from the participants in tabular form; evaluator's reports on Library Services to the Spanish and Library Materials for Minority Groups; and publicity releases on the Institute. (LI 004 152 contains related material.) (Author/SJ)
