In the second lecture, "Automation--Prospects and Implications for Libraries," the purpose is to provide an overview of the field of automation in order to understand past developments and thus perceive the implications for tomorrow's librarians. The third lecturer states that "Libraries Are More Than Books" and urges that they be given greater emphasis and support as an important means of educational and intellectual stimulation for the future. In the final lecture, "The Trend to LC," the author presents thoughts on changing library classification schemes--the costs, benefits and problems involved.
