The authors maintain that such a merger would be in the best interests of faculty and students, helping them to provide and obtain quality individualized education. In order to assist in the establishment and maintenance of LRCs, the following topics are given major attention: 1) the nature of the community college; 2) the philosophy and organization of such institutions; 3) administration and personnel requirements; 4) finance; 5) selection of materials and equipment; 6) instructional and technical services; 7) the technical assistant; 8) building programs for new facilities; and 9) trends for the future.
