The grant was made so that the project could show how undereducated adults could become greater users of library facilities. Specific objectives included the coordination of library services during ABE class time; needs assessment of ABE students; coordination of ongoing library and ABE services at the two state mental hospitals, recruitment of undereducated adults to ABE and to public library services and the establishment of the library habit in ABE students. Appended are case studies, circulation records, plans for library service, a list of books checked out, tabulation of student interest, and responses of ABE teachers to a questionnaire. (Author/CH) |
