The testimonies were presented in response to the Commission's request to comment on one or more of six topics: 1) new federal legislation for libraries; 2) inequities in today's system; 3) reasons compelling the government to consider interconnecting the libraries and information centers of the nation according to a national plan; 4) federal investment policy on libraries; 5) responsibilities of the Federal Government toward the development of national network; 6) state governments' responsibilities toward a national network; and 7) the motivation of a state to belong to a national network. These written testimonies constitute the basis for the oral testimony found in IR 000 281. (CH) |
