The first outlines the course of library automation in the preceding 10 years. The third section describes Oregon Total Information System (OTIS)--specifically its library function in OTIS Automated Library Services (OALS). This is the chronicle of the evaluation and problems of OALS in the areas of catalog production, ordering, processing, evaluation of media, online booking and scheduling, ERIC computer searching, and textbook control.
