College Libraries Conference Reports Cost Effectiveness Databases Information Systems Library Automation Library Circulation Online Systems Problem Solving The Ohio State Libraries hosted an institute to involve participants in a discussion of the Library Circulation System (LCS). Five papers were presented which were devoted to: (1) the historical background and philosophy surrounding the decision of The Ohio State University Libraries to involve themselves in the field of automation; (2) the conversion of the selected data base and problems involved; (3) a description of how the system operates in terms of software and hardware; and (4) a description of how the system works in practice in terms of the user. Discussions also covered how certain problems were handled once the system was operational. (WCM)
