- The Faculty Library Committee of Six Public Community Colleges in the State of Florida: A Comparative Study Based on Age and Size of the Institution. Park, Leland Madison Advisory Committees College Libraries Community Colleges Doctoral Dissertations Faculty Librarians Library Collections Library Facilities Library Material Selection Library Science Surveys The role, scope, and impact of faculty library committees at six community colleges in the state of Florida were examined. An older and a newer institution were selected from each of three full-time enrollment categories: 1-999; 1,000-1,999; and 2,000 and over. Data collection was by examination of the committee charges and records, and by interviews with librarians, chairmen, former chairmen, and members of the committees. A series of 23 conclusions from the study are presented. These fall into four general classes; (1) committee operations and perceptions of library committee effectiveness, (2) relations between the committee and the institution's professional library staff, (3) the impact of individual faculty and students on the committee's effectiveness, and (4) institutional characteristics that impinge on the committee's effectiveness.
