Age Groups Facility Utilization Research Library Circulation Library Collections Library Expenditures Library Facilities Library Services Library Standards Library Technical Processes Program Descriptions Public Libraries Public Relations Tables (Data) Tax Allocation Use Studies At the request of the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library, the Nassau Library System conducted a comprehensive survey of the library's operations and facilities. Information was gathered from relevant documents, interviews with the director and staff, and community surveys. Conclusions were drawn about the state of the library and 13 major recommendations for its improvement were made. Among these were: a moratorium on major remodeling changes, streamlining of various technical tasks, installation of closed circuit television, a new emphasis on balanced collection development, and the establishment or reestablishment of several staff positions. Statistical data supporting the recommendations are included in this report. (PF)
