Highlights of the statistical information indicate: (1) In the fall of 1974 a total of 157,678 full-time and part-time students were enrolled in North Carolina colleges and universities. (2) The total 1974 college enrollment increased by 4.9 percent over the 1973 figure. (3) More than 11,000 new undergraduate transfer students were enrolled in North Carolina colleges and universities, public and private, in fall 1974. (4) The number of bachelor's degrees granted by North Carolina colleges and universities during the year ending June 30, 1974, the number of full-time faculty in public and universities during the year ending June 30, 1974 increased by 3.9 percent. (5) In the fall of 1974, the number of full-time faculty in public and private senior institutions was 7,639. (6) The number of bound volumes in the fall of 1974 was 5,774,909 in the public sector and 5, 741,640 in the private sector. (7) Public and private senior institutions had 73,172 registrations in noncredit extension courses during the 1973-74 year. (8) Tuition and required fees charged for the 1974-75 academic year for North Carolina students attending public senior institutions ranged from $361 to $621. (9) The mean Scholastic Aptitude Test score of entering freshmen in public senior institutions in fall 1974 was 446 on the verbal test and 481 on the mathematical test, for a combined score of 927.
