In four parts, the book focuses on the academic library as a vital component of higher education; new approaches to solving academic library problems; unscrambling critical academic library issues; and patterns of library information systems, networks, and consortia. The essays provide an analysis of some of the most pressing problems facing higher education and the responses made by the academic library and other informational services.
