The objectives of the conference were to motivate and to stimulate thought and discussion about managerial style and management responsibilities. The first formal session of the conference, entitled "What Kind of Manager Are You?," dealt with the role of management in general and in libraries and described four distinct management styles. A self-assessment exercise on managerial and interpersonal style was presented. Session two concerned decision-making for managers. The normal decision making technique for small group idea generation and priority setting was described and utilized in workshops. The third session discussed the roles and problems of women in management. Finally, library organization and libraries in organizations were examined, stressing the importance of knowledge of the library's environment as it affects the library's goals, and the problems of changing environment and goals. To evaluate the conference, a questionnaire was sent one month later to a random selection of participants. Appendixes include the questionnaire, a summary of its results, and a list of conference participants. (Author/SL)
