  • Equal Opportunity in Housing: A Bibliography of Research. Second Edition, Revised and Enlarged. Annotated Bibliographies Bibliographies Civil Rights Federal Government Government Role Housing Discrimination Housing Industry Housing Opportunities Law Enforcement Public Policy Racial Discrimination Real Estate Residential Patterns Social Discrimination At the request of the Assistant Secretary for Equal Opportunity, and in response to many other inquiries, the Housing Urban Development Library developed this completely revised edition of its 1969 bibliography--organized into eight sections dealing with general background materials, demographic patterns, fair housing laws: enactment and enforcement; social and economic aspects, the housing market and real estate practice, housing in the suburbs, new communities, government housing policies and programs, and bibliographies, respectively--to include primarily material published since 1969 with the exception of a few unique or classic publications that must be considered basic to any bibliography. The implementation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 has engendered an increasing amount of literature on the scope, problems and policies involved. Title VIII prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, financing or marketing of housing, establishes remedies for such discrimination, and requires all Federal departments and agencies to administer their programs and activities in a manner affirmatively to further fair housing policies. Because the emphasis is on research, articles from popular periodicals have been omitted. Also included is an author index, including joint authors and editors. (Author/JM)
