BRASS consists of 12 rules, each illustrated by specific examples. Rules cover basic alphabetization, including foreign words, numerals, abbreviations, and acronyms; interfiling of types of entries; variant spellings; subfiling of identical entries, added entries, and multiple editions; and filing of cross references.
