In responding to the commission's draft reports, witnesses dealt with such topics as national information centers, cooperative programs, the proposed national network, existing networks, financial support for libraries, standards for library and information services, new technology, the relationship between the public and private sectors, the information needs of the American public, the library as a community information center, and the copyright versus copying problem.
