By using information from existing trade journals and from questionnaires completed by publishers, a handbook was developed to assist librarians; it discusses some 450 publishers in terms of their: (1) address, (2) promptness of delivery, (3) price discounts which a library can expect, (4) charges other than actual purchase price, (5) convenience of returning materials, (6) accurate and prompt reports of titles currently unavailable, and (7) availability of standing order or approval plans.
