  • Student Awareness and Use of Reference Services in a Large University Library. Sandock, Mollie College Libraries College Students Graduate Students Higher Education Information Seeking Library Services Library Surveys Perception Reference Services Student Attitudes Student Reaction Use Studies A proportionate stratified random sample of undergraduates, graduate students, and professional school students at the University of Chicago was interviewed to determine the extent to which they were aware of the Regenstein Library's reference services. A rather low level of awareness of reference services was found throughout the student body. Academic disciplines, level of study, and length of time at the university all affected awareness of and desire for reference services. Those students who had discovered and consulted the reference staff were generally pleased with the assistance they received. Data tables and a bibliography are included. (Author/LS)
