- Library Book Theft: A Case Study. Beach, Allyne Books College Libraries Library Research Questionnaires Stealing As part of an investigation of library theft at Ohio State University, relevant literature was explored, causal hypotheses were formulated, a questionnaire was distributed to a representative sample of 350 students, data were analyzed, and conclusions drawn. Opinions of 19 self-identified book thieves and 231 nonthieves were used to identify the motives for theft, the methods used, and possible preventative measures. The text summarizes the literature search, describes the research methodology, and states the findings, including tabular summaries of questionnaire data. (EMH)
